Learn to stop worrying and love the ozone hole

I dont like Thomas Friedman's moustache , but from beneath it emerge some choice words , and I read most of his articles .
He has gone on about America's energy policy for so long , that now, it mostly evokes as much interest as a CNN story on the rising death toll in Baghdad.
But this article tied it up quite forcefully.

On the other side of the planet , China has signed a deal with Indonesia which could make the jungles of Borneo disappear by the time you retire (unless you are a commodities trader).
Sarawak and Kalimantan , the mention of these names always touch a deep chord in me. A heady mix of humidity , dense fern infested forests , species not seen even in Madagascar and the seemingly on the edge head hunting rituals and cannibalism in Kalimantan.
In a way , Kalimantan evokes in me almost the same feelings that Tori Amos does .

This article left me with a heavy heart.

The disturbing thing from both stories is the coming together of 2 unsavoury prospects
1> Competition for limited resources turns into global conflict
2> Acid rain ruins the paint on both your cars

Doomsayers are donning knowing smiles.
